Background/History: While travelling on a ship to Baron, Cecil's party was attacked by the sea king, Leviathan. The ship was wrecked and the group were separated. Rydia, the young caller was accidentally brought back to the mystical world of call monsters; a bizarre place inhabited by monsters of all kinds. Discovering that she was a caller, King Leviathan and Queen Ashura took pity on her. They raised and trained Rydia as their own, honing her magic skills.

But time behaves strangely in their mystical land. As the years flew past for Rydia, mere weeks passed in the rest of the world. Finally, she emerged to explore the world around her. She came to the dwarven kingdom of Lali at the same time as Cecil's group. They joined forces to fight off Golbez there, and she traveled with them from then on.

Personality/Motivation: Rydia was raised with kindness and respect; as such she has a very strong sense of justice, and feels a need to help people and right wrongs. She is very unfamiliar with "normal" society; having no contact with people for ten years, she sometimes behaves strangely. She has little use for politeness or dishonesty and always speaks her mind, even if it causes offense. Finally, as a caller she is still hunted down by Golbez' army.

Powers/Tactics: Rydia's skills as a caller and mage have been greatly enhanced by her training. She can now cast a wide variety of offensive spells, although she has neglected her training in healing and protective magic, and can no longer cast such spells. Her main power comes from the variety of monsters she can call on to aid her in battle, including her mother's Mist Dragon and Titan, as well as the ice demon Shiva, the fire demon Jinn and the lightning demon Indra.

Appearance: Rydia matured into an attractive young woman of seventeen. She has shoulder-length sea-green hair that is swept over to one side and deep green eyes. She wears a simple green dress when travelling.
