Background:
Irvine was raised in a small orphanage in southern Centra. He was eventually adopted into the Galbaldian garden, where he showed excellent skill with firearms, especially rifles. He chose to specialise on his rifle training, and as a result became one of the top snipers in all of Garden. Irvine's chance to prove his skills came when he was assigned to a Seed team lead by Squall Leonheart. Their mission was to assassinate Galbaldia's sorceress, using Irvine's considerable skill. Irvine immediately fit into the group, latching on to Selphie Tilmit in particular.

Personality/Motivation:
Irvine is very confident and proud of his skills. He's one of the best snipers around, and he won't let you forget it. He cultivates an image as a cool, calm professional; a loner and ladies' man. As such, he likes to be distant from the group, except from the cute girls around him. He constantly makes passes as Quistis and especially Selphie. Deep down however, he has a problem with stress. He tends to flake out in tense moments, and doubts his conviction as a sniper. When the call comes to fire on the sorceress, Irvine stalls, unsure if he can.

Tactics/Powers:
Irvine relies first and foremost on his rifle, with which he is an excellent shot. He can concentrate his energy into the rifle, making it capable of firing a number of special ammunition loads. Note that the two presented here are only samples; over the course of their adventures, the team will pick up more diverse and powerful ammunition types for Irvine.

Irvine is also trained to use Guardian Forces (GFs), but due to his specialised training he has never actually junctioned with one. GFs rest in the user's mind, and enable her to draw magic spells from the environment or from opponents. These are "stocked" in the Variable power Pool for later use. All spells have limited charges, and once a charge is used, it is gone until the spell can be re-drawn.

Note: The spells should be pre-designed, and the "charges" of a spell drawn should depend on the amount of Transfer rolled.

The GF itself can also be summoned, delivering a powerful attack to the user's opponents. While summoning, the user is protected by the GF itself; if the GF is knocked out, the summoning will abort and the GF must be revived later. A person can use more than one GF; however, only one may be summoned at a time, and changing GFs takes time.

Appearance:
Irvine is a tall, thin man of only seventeen, although he appears more mature than his age. He has long brown hair and blue eyes. He has a narrow, somewhat feminine face, and always ties his hair back into a ponytail. He dresses casual, wearing a long yellow duster, cowboy hat and fingerless gloves to emphasise his "gunslinger" look.
