Sammple Powers for Sculptress's Stone Shaping Variable Power Pool

	1) Wall Climbing: Clinging (normal STR) (10 Active Points); Cannot Resist Knockback (-¼), No Ceiling
Movement Or Angles Of Less Than 80° (-¼) Real Cost: 7
Notes: With this power, Sculptress sinks her fingers and toes into a stone surface, climbing it
quite easily. Note she needs to remove her boots in order for this to work properly.

	2) Stone Melding: Desolidification ; Does Not Protect Against Damage (-1), Only Through Earth And
	Stone (-1) Real Cost: 13, END 4
Notes: This power allows Sculptress to simply sink into a stone surface, passing thought it was
if she was swimming through water. She cannot see or breathe while doing so, which is why she'll
only use this power on relatively thin walls.

	3) Rock Blast: Blast 12d6; Only When In Contact With The Ground (natural earth, stone, or soil
only; -½), Side Effects, (may cause considerable damage to the environment; -0) Real Cost: 40, END 6
Notes: Sculptress causes a mass of stone to shoot forth from the ground into her target.
This power can be combined with several advantages to produce different effects. Using this power
will result in Sculptress leaving thick stone masses sticking out of the ground. She will usually
go back and "smooth" things out if she can.

	4) Earth Lance: Blast 8d6, Armor Piercing (+¼) (50 Active Points); Only When In Contact With The
Ground (natural earth, stone, or soil only; -½), Side Effects, (may cause considerable damage to
the environment; -0) Real Cost: 33, END 5
Notes: This represents a narrow knob of blunted rock.

	5) Earth Fist: Blast 6d6, Double Knockback (+¾); Only When In Contact With The Ground (natural
earth, stone, or soil only; -½), Side Effects, (may cause considerable damage to the environment; -0)
	Real Cost: 35, END 5
Notes: This version is a wide mass of stone that pushes more than impacts the target.

	6) Earth Geyser:  Blast 9d6, Indirect (attack originates at the target's feet; +¼) (56 Active Points);
Only When In Contact With The Ground (natural earth, stone, or soil only; -½) Real Cost: 37, END 6
Notes: With this attack, a shaft of stone appears at the target's feet
	and slams into them.

	7) Stone Prison: Entangle 4d6, 6 PD/6 ED; Only When In Contact With The Ground (natural earth,
stone, or soil only; -½), Only Affects Targets On The Ground (-¼) Real Cost: 28, END 5
Notes: Here Sculptress forms great masses of grasping limbs or "fingers" and wraps her
	target up in them.

	8) Feet Of Clay: Entangle 4d6, 4 PD/4 ED, Takes No Damage From Attacks (+½); Set Effect
(Feet Only) (-1), Only When In Contact With The Ground (natural earth, stone, or soil only; -½)
	Real Cost: 24, END 6
Notes: This version only affects the the target's feet.

	9) Ground To Mud: Entangle 3d6, 3 PD/3 ED, Takes No Damage From Attacks (+½), Area Of Effect
(18m Radius Explosion; +½) (60 Active Points); Set Effect (Feet Only) (-1), Only When In Contact
With The Ground (natural earth, stone, or soil only; -½) Real Cost: 24, END 6
Notes: This is Sculptress' "ground to mud" attack. She liquefies a section of stone, and
then quickly hardens it, trapping any number of people by their feet.

	10) Stone Stick: HA +4d6, Reduced Endurance (0 END; +½) (30 Active Points); OIF (easily
recreatable; -½), Only When In Contact With The Ground (natural earth, stone, or soil only; -½),
Extra Time (Full Phase, Only to Activate, -¼), Hand-To-Hand Attack (-¼) Real Cost: 12
Notes: Sculptress forms a stick/club/staff out of stone. At some point she might actually
learn some form of fighting art that uses such a weapon, right now she just depends on the object's
sheer mass to damage her target. The weapon is defined as an OIF since it's easy for her to make
another (she just needs to spend a Phase shaping it).

	11) Stone Knife: HKA 1d6 (1d6+1 w/STR), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +½) (22 Active Points); OIF (
easily recreatable; -½), Only When In Contact With The Ground (natural earth, stone, or soil
only; -½), Extra Time (Full Phase, Only to Activate, -¼) Real Cost: 10
Notes: This is a power Sculptress will not, and does not, use on a regular basis. She can
and will create simple bladed objects, such as knives or axe-like weapons. Usually she will create
such an object as a tool, not a weapon.

	12) Stone Spike: RKA 4d6; Only When In Contact With The Ground (natural earth, stone, or soil only; -½)
	Real Cost: 40, END 6
Notes: This is a large spike of solid stone. It's Sculptress' "car wrecker" attack.

	13) Stone Lance: RKA 2 ½d6, Armor Piercing (+¼); Only When In Contact With The Ground (natural
earth, stone, or soil only; -½) Real Cost: 33, END 5
Notes: This is a narrow stone spike, designed to punch right through armor.

	14) Stone Darts: RKA 2d6, Autofire (5 shots; +½) (45 Active Points); Only When In Contact With
The Ground (natural earth, stone, or soil only; -½), Cannot Be Used Spread Or Suppressed (-¼) Real
	Cost: 26, END 4
Notes: This represents a flurry of stone spikes launched into the air. It is a very
exhausting and potentially lethal attack, and something Sculptress will probably never use.

	15) Stone Shaping: Minor Transform 6d6 (transform raw stone into finished stone sculpture, "heals"
back through normal wear and tear) (30 Active Points); Extra Time (1 Turn (Post-Segment 12), -1 ¼),
Concentration (throughout; ½ DCV; -½), Gestures (must constantly work stone with her hands; -½),
No Range (-½), Only When In Contact With The Ground (natural earth, stone, or soil only; -½)
	Real Cost: 7, END 3
Notes: Sculptress has both Cosmetic and Minor Transformation powers. The Cosmetic allows
her to repair small cracks in stonework, while the Minor allows her to rework stone surfaces into
something else. It's possible that she might have a Major Transform, which would allow her to turn
any chunk of stone into anything else (but still made from stone).

	16) Earthmoving: Telekinesis (40 STR) (60 Active Points); Only When In Contact With The Ground
(natural earth, stone, or soil only; -½), Physical Manifestation (-¼) Real Cost: 34, END 6
Notes: Sculptress uses her ability to form masses of rock into "limbs" in order to handle
objects at a distance. This power is useful when dealing with objects that are otherwise untouchable
	(such as a burning car.)

	17) Pass Through Stone:  Tunneling 16m through 8 PD material, Fill In (40 Active Points);
Only When In Contact With The Ground (natural earth, stone, or soil only; -½), No Noncombat
	Movement (-¼) Real Cost: 23, END 4
Notes: Sculptress shapes a passage through a solid mass of stone.

Background/History: Kristin Matthews' background is rather ordinary one. Well, for the most part. Born to well-off parents, she attended the best private schools and was allowed to fully explore her interest in the arts by enrolling in a high-class fine arts college. Graduating with honors, she took up sculpting and pottery full time, becoming rather well known in the local art circles. After the Change, Kristin found she no longer needed tools to work stone, but could shape rock with her bare hands, causing it to run like water between her fingers. These days, she still sculpts, creating the most amazing art works (which are in great demand), but she has also found herself drawn further and further into the Changed World's new "superhero" society.

Personality/Motivation: Kristin doesn't really want to be a superhero, she'd much rather stay in her studio and create art. But her powers are such that trouble seems to come to her (whether she wants it or not), and so she has become a somewhat reluctant superhero, trying to use her powers to help others.

As Sculptress, Kristin tries to avoid hurting people—both innocent bystanders and her opponents—as well as excessively damaging the environment. She's more than a bit uncertain under fire, and is usually slow to react to quickly changing situations. Fortunately, a lot of her powers work via pure reflex and her standard reaction to incoming fire is to raise her Wall Of Stone about her. As Kristin, she tries to live her life as if nothing has changed. She likes to dress well, live well, and enjoy the high class lifestyle she's accustomed to.

Quote: "Uh... you there! Halt! This is the Sculptress speaking! Man, I feel stupid...."

Powers/Tactics: Sculptress's primary power is the ability to shape, melt, and warp stone into any form she can imagine. When her powers are active, Sculptress's hands are surrounded by a bright white glow allow her to mold solid stone as if was wet clay. So far, she exhibited a wide range of powers, including (but no limited to) Barrier, Blast, Entangle, Transform, and Tunneling.

Sculptress can affect distant targets with her powers, but the target in question must be in contact with the same stone mass Sculptress is affecting. Sculptress's primary defensive power is to raise solid masses of stone between her and any opponents—she often will do this if out numbered, overwhelmed, or if uncertain what to do next.

Any use of her powers will permanently mar any stone it is used upon. Normally, Sculptress uses this to maximum effect when creating new art objects, but when affecting stone structures, it will leave a distinctive "swirl" effect upon the material used, even after she's gone back and "smoothed out" any disruptions she's made.

Appearance: Sculptress isn't very tall, standing about 5'4", with a slight build. She has short blond hair, blue eyes, and wears glasses. As Kristin Matthews she tries to dress in the latest (and best) fashions; as Sculptress, she wears a dark gray bodysuit with silver trim. Over this she wears shaped stone sections worked into body armor. The sections are held together with heavy nylon strapping. Low black boots and a black face mask complete the outfit. Since Sculptress' powers require her to touch stone, she doesn't wear gloves.

Designer's Notes: The "Change" mentioned in the text was the catalyst for super powers to appear in the original campaign world. Somewhat like "White Event" in Marvel Comic's now defunct New Universe, which kicked off the appearance of superhumans, this campaign saw the Earth pass through the tail of a comet, subjecting it to strange energies, and changing it forever. However, the campaign in question didn't last long (maybe a half-dozen runs), so the exact nature of the "Changed World" was never really explored. For more "mundane" Champions campaigns (such as the official HERO Games Champions Universe), make Sculptress a mutant.

The original version of Sculptress was a mere 255 points. This version sees her pumped up to 325. I wanted to make her a base 350 points, but ran out of things to realistically spend points on. I did find a bit of blue-booking that mentions her joining a fitness club and a Kempo Karate studio, so if you want to make her a full 350, give her a base 10 points of Kempo Karate, Breakfall, and maybe up her STR to 10 and her CON to 18 or so. For a really powerful Sculptress, give her superhuman level STR, DEX, CON, and SPD.
