DRAGON BALL Z HERO

GADGETS

Aside from all the odd powers and vehicles seen in the Dragon Ball universe, Toriyama also presents us with an amazingly eclectic collection of gadgets. Many of the important ones are listed below. Note: not all the "gadgets" are technological devices!

Dragon Balls

The dragon balls are plot devices pure and simple. There are three sets seen throughout the series, each with differing abilities. At the time of the Cell Game, there are two sets of balls. One set is the dragon balls made by the original Kami-sama, and the other is the dragon balls of Nameck-sei. Afterward the Cell Game, Dende creates a third set of dragon balls to replace the set created by Kami-sama. The powers of each set are as follows:

Dragon Ball Set 1 (Earth set): There are seven balls, and each is yellow-orange, about the size of a baseball, and marked with small red stars that indicates the ball's number. If all seven are brought together, Shen-Long can be summoned and asked to grant a wish (and only one wish). You get one wish every 365 days, and after making the wish, the balls will fly up into the air and then scatter across the globe.

The wish can raise the dead, but only those people who haven't been dead more than a year, or who have died of natural causes. The wish can raise up to 50 people in one shot. Shen-Long will not kill or destroy things, as Kami-sama is a healer, not a warrior. You can also only make the same wish once.

Shen-Long will not twist a wish around and will not mess up a wish . He will inform the requester if a wish is invalid or beyond his power. Game Masters should not try and pervert wishes, as that goes against the grain of the series. You get your wishes with no strings attached.

Dragon Ball Set 2 (Nameck set): There are seven balls, and each is yellow-orange, about the size of a basketball, and marked with small red stars that indicates the ball's number. If all seven are brought together, the Nameck Shen-Long can be summoned with the phrase "Takkarato Popporunga Pupirittoparo," and asked to grant three wishes. You get the three wishes every 365 days, and after making the wishes, the balls will fly up into the air and then scatter across the globe. If the balls are used to only grant one or two wishes, you only have to wait 6 months before you can make another wish.

The wishes can be used to raise the dead, but only those people who haven't been dead more than a year, or who have died of natural causes. The wish can raise up to five billion people people in one shot. Earth was recreated with one wish from the Nameck balls. Nameck Shen-Long will not kill or destroy things, as the ball's creator is a healer, not a warrior. You can also only make the same wish once.

Dragon Ball Set 3 (Earth set created by Dende): There are seven balls, and each is yellow-orange, about the size of a baseball and marked with small red stars that indicates the ball's number. If all seven are brought together, Shen-Long can be summoned and asked to grant three wishes. You get the three wishes every 365 days, and after making the wishes, the balls will fly up into the air and then scatter across the globe. If the balls are used to only grant one or two wishes, you only have to wait 4 months before you can make another wish.

The wish can raise the dead, but only those people who haven't been dead more than a year, or who have died of natural causes. The wish can raise up to five billion people people in one shot. Shen-Long will not kill or destroy things, as Kami-sama is a healer, not a warrior. You can also only make the same wish once.

Other Equipment

Dragon Radar: This is the tracker that Bulma uses to find the dragon balls. It will tell you how far away each one is, what direction and which number the ball is. It will also find the Nameck dragon balls as well.

Dragon Radar: Detect Dragon Balls 18- (Unusual Group), Discriminatory, Increased Arc Of Perception (360 Degrees), Range, Telescopic: +24 (37 Active Points); OAF (-1). Total Cost: 18 Points.

Freezer Armor: Freezer had a number of standardized suits of armor he handed out to his flunkies. In general, the armor covers the torso and the shoulders, although some versions have plates that hang down and protect the thighs as well. A great deal of variation is possible with this armor, as some versions only protected one shoulder, or covered the thighs and not the shoulders. The armor stretches to fit virtually anyone, but is rigid enough to defend against many forms of attacks. The armor can be broken, and will usually shatter into small pieces if punctured or otherwise damaged. Typically, the armor is white with black trim or plating.

Freezer Armor: Armor (12 PD/12 ED) (36 Active Points); Activation Roll 11- or Locations 9-14 (-1), OIF (-1/2). Total Cost: 14 points.
Freezer Armor: Armor (12 PD/12 ED) (36 Active Points); Activation Roll 11- or Locations 9-13 (-1), OIF (-1/2). Total Cost: 14 points.
Freezer Armor: Armor (12 PD/12 ED) (36 Active Points); Activation Roll 9- or Locations 10-12 (-1 1/2), OIF (-1/2). Total Cost: 12 points.

Freezer Blaster: This powerful energy weapon fits over one hand, with the muzzle stretching along the back of the hand. A cable runs from the weapon to a scouter, presumably to aid in targeting. Although not very powerful when compared to the chi blasts fired by certain characters in the series, the blaster is strong enough to blow a hole in Bulma's spaceship at one point. The damage and number of shots is very arbitrary.

Freezer Blaster: (Total: 86 Active Cost, 57 Real Cost) EB 12d6, 32 Charges (+1/4) (75 Active Points); OIF (-1/2) (Real Cost: 50) plus +1 OCV (5 Active Points); OIF (-1/2) (Real Cost: 3) plus Penalty Skill Levels: +2 vs. Range Modifier with Freezer Blaster (6 Active Points); OIF (-1/2) (Real Cost: 4). Total Cost: 57 Points.

Kintoun: Son Goku's flying cloud. One could write this up in several ways, either as a focus or a vehicle. I've chosen to define it as a focus. The Kintoun can carry one passenger, but it can only carry those who are "pure hearted," which can limit the kinds of passengers you can carry around. This may just be a special effect depending in the Game Master's wishes.

Kintoun: Flight 20", x4 Noncombat, Usable Simultaneously (up to 2 people at once; +1/2), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (90 Active Points); OAF (-1), Can Only Be Used By Those Who Have A "Pure Heart" (-1/4). Total Cost: 40 points.

Nyoibo: Goku's staff, the Nyoibo is capable of stretching for immense distances. The actual manga version could stretch for several miles, I've toned that down for playability purposes.

Nyoibo: (Total: 330 Active Cost, 121 Real Cost) HA +4d6, Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (30 Active Points); OAF (-1), Hand-To-Hand Attack (-1/2) (Real Cost: 12) plus Stretching 40", Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (300 Active Points); OAF (-1), Only To Cause Damage (-1/2), Always Direct (-1/4) (Real Cost: 109). Total Cost: 121 Points.

Scouter: The scouter was given to all of Freezer's troops. It could locate someone by their fighting ability (i.e. chi), present an estimate of fighting ability in numeric form (Toriyama assigns a low of 5 and a high of 540,000 to various characters.), and give location and distance. These scouters can also track dragon balls (unless the ball is underwater or otherwise hidden).

Scouter: Detect Fighting Ability 18- (Unusual Group), Discriminatory, Increased Arc Of Perception (360 Degrees), Range, Sense, Telescopic: +8 (31 Active Points); OIF (-1/2). Total Cost: 21 points.

Senzu Seeds: Senzu seeds are found in Karin Tower. Senpyou lives there and harvests the senzu seeds. A single seed will heal all injuries and restore all energy lost due to fatigue. It also will seem as if one has eaten a full meal. Eating more than one at a time is a surefire way to get sick.

Senzu Seed: Healing BODY 20d6 (standard effect: 60 points), BODY, END, and STUN simultaneously (+1) (400 Active Points); 1 Charge which Never Recovers (-4), OAF (seed; -1), Gestures (must eat; -1/4). Total Cost: 64 Points.
