Chi-Chi

Background/History: Chi-Chi is the daughter of Gyuu Maou, the Magical Cow King (Gyuu Maou is another figure from the original Monkey King legend). Her name is a slang term for breasts. Chi-Chi first appears in Volume 1, dressed in a skimpy outfit with a razor-sharp throwing "fin" attached to her helmet. She's a bit of an airhead and almost trashes Yamcha, thinking him to be another enemy. Short there after, she meets Son Goku and asks him if he wants to be married. Goku, thinking "marriage" is a type of food, says "yes." We don't see Chi-Chi again until the third Tenkaichi Budoikai. She shows up as Tokumei Kibou and ends up fighting Son Goku in the finals. She loses (What did you expect?), but ends up marrying him after the tournament.

Chi-Chi gives birth to two boys during the series, Son Gohan and Son Goten. She mothers Gohan greatly, wanting him to be a great scholar and trying to discourage him from fighting. Goten, on the other hand, she seems to have given up on, as he is much less restrained then Gohan.

Personality/Motivation: Chi-Chi is primarily driven by a mother complex. She loves Goku and often worries that he'll get hurt (or killed) when fighting. She mothers Gohan incessantly, trying to turn him into a great scholar and forbidding him for fighting. She also has a constant game of one-upmanship going with Bulma. Chi-Chi invariably points out anything Gohan or Goten can do that Trunks can't (or didn't). The two of them are noted for getting highly vocal and aggressive when their sons are in a tournament together.

Powers/Tactics: Chi-Chi is a pretty normal person as far as powers goes. She knows some martial arts, and has impressive leaping skill, but has never mastered any of the chi techniques so common to all the other characters in the series. Chi-Chi's main "power" is her ability to cook. She is a fantastic cook and is easily capable of keeping up with Goku's (and Gohan's) impressive appetites.

Appearance: Chi-Chi stands about 5'6" with a trim figure. She is pretty, with long black hair she usually has tied up into a bun or into a ponytail. Chi-Chi's normal mode of dress is Chinese-styled clothing (usually with a Mandarin look to them).

Designer's Notes: Some people regard Chi-Chi as the most powerful character in the series, mainly because she can pound on Goku and get away with it!
