Description: Daniel Westin was born in 1933, and became a brilliant physicist working in a private lab with the assistance of his lovely wife Kate. In 1975, while experimenting with a strange substance he’d discovered called “liquid photons” as part of an experiment to develop workable teleportation technology, he accidentally discovered that he could turn lab rats invisible by injecting them with the formula, and then reverse the process with a second injection. Unfortunately for him, the Army had started taking an interest in his project. Though he’d done some work for the government, he was angered by the attitude of the colonel who was trying to take over his project, and out of spite he destroyed his notes before the army could seize them, taking the last of the liquid photon serum and injecting it into himself. so that he could escape the lab invisibly before the soldiers burst in.
However, once he was free, Westin discovered that the serum that had reversed the rats’ invisibility didn’t work on humans, and he was apparently permanently invisible. He and his wife eventually contacted friends at the KLAE Corporation, a private industrial firm that had several military contracts, and negotiatied a deal with the government to get the army off his back. In exchange for doing occasional “assignments” for intelligence agencies like OSI, Westin would be funded through the KLAE Corporation for his ongoing research with liquid photons and efforts to restore his visibility. He was outfitted with a special “suit” of synthetic skin, the same type that OSI had used for their bionic agents, which allowed him to pass in ordinary society most of the time. He has continued to work for KLAE for over six years now, interspersing his lab work with occasional forays into espionage, a job he’s discovered he both enjoys and has a particular knack for.
