Notes: Sherlock Holmes was born in 1854, perhaps to a couple named Sigerson (Holmes was famously circumspect about his own background.) He began his business as a "Consulting Detective" on Baker Street in London in 1880, and took up rooms with his friend, Dr. John Watson, a year later. He is still quite young and physically active; the adventures referred to in "Study In Scarlet" and "Speckled Band" have occurred already, but few other of the canonical cases (the next one is "Beryl Coronet.") Watson has not yet published any of his adventures, so he is not nearly as famous as he will become.
