GIANT SALAMANDERS

At over six feet in length, these exceedingly rare giant salamanders are even longer than their equally uncommon cousins, the Chinese Giant Salamanders. They apparently spend almost all of their time in the water, and come ashore only at night. As the photo shows, they are in the process of losing their hind legs, and may become totally aquatic within the next 100,000 years or so.
