Background/History: Axewell Tiberius had entered the extra-dimensional space known as the Terminus, pursuing a criminal from his homeworld, when he was caught in the energy field of Ann O'Brien's gate generator. He was pulled into the gate, along with his quarry, when their combined mass caused the gate to explode. While he was unconscious, the remains of the criminal (now nothing more than a head and shoulder) awoke and mind controlled two of Oniko O'Brien's followers to take him away, along with Axewell's homing device. Now stuck here on Earth, Axewell eventually teamed up with Ann O'Brien to rebuild her father's gate generator and eventually find a way to return him home. And the criminal? As near as I can tell, he had a mechanical exoskeleton built for himself, and becomes the villain known as "Gorildozer."
Personality/Motivation: If there's one thing you can say about Axewell, it's he's unerringly polite. he tends to remain even tempered unless really stressed, and always prefers to talk things out. His quote, taken from a scene of him fighting Froglodtye invaders, sums up his personality perfectly. Even in the midst of open combat, he's well-mannered. Of course, if pushed, he can engage in fist-a-cuffs with the best of them, this is a comic reminiscent of the Silver age after all!
Quote: ""Awful, bipedal mammal," indeed! You fellows could use a lesson in manners!"
Powers/Tactics: Aside from all the powers and benefits of being a 10' tall gorilla, Axewell all possess superhuman strength, thanks to the radiation he was exposed to. On top of that, he's a certified (comic book) scientific genius. He learns English in about a week, then several other Earth languages (the selection above is just a guess, as he's in San Francisco, he might know Japanese and Chinese instead). He rebuilds the gate generator in about a month (with Ann's help), cracks the Froglodyte's computer systems in about 20-30 minutes, and rebuilds a Frog warp shuttle into an extra dimensional exploration vehicle in three weeks. His skills in this regard are only conjecture, and he probably has many more sciences.
Appearance: Axewell stands 10' tall, with black hair and orange eyes. He resembles an Earth mountain gorilla, except he generally wears a suit and tie tailored to his great height. He normally has a pair of glasses perched on his nose.
Designer's Notes: What Champions campaign isn't complete without a giant talking gorilla? As Mike Mignola says, everything goes better with monkeys.
