Unlike virtually all other golems, crystal golems aren't carved, cast, or forged, but grown. One creates a crystal golem by placing certain crystals in large alchemical vats filled with mineral-rich waters. Various salts and powdered compounds are then added to the vat, while spells are placed upon the entire mixture. While the process takes time (creating a crystal golem can take six months to a year), it also means there is no real size limit to a finished golem. As long as the vat is big enough and the creator adds sufficient raw materials, the golem will continue to grow.
